Photogrammetry
Drone photogrammetry reconstructs precise 3D measurements from overlapping 2D images, using triangulation to convert stereo image pairs into accurate x, y, z coordinates. Achieving survey-grade accuracy depends on RTK/PPK kinematic positioning, careful mission planning around ground sampling distance, and computational pipelines like Structure-from-Motion and Multi-View Stereo that generate dense point clouds, orthomosaics, and elevation models. Compared to LiDAR, photogrammetry offers lower-cost, passive-sensing deployment — though hybrid approaches combining both are increasingly used for the most demanding deliverables. Industrial applications span construction progress tracking, stockpile volume calculation, and infrastructure inspection.
